Open Invitation to Participate: Urban Wilderness Intervention

Dear Urban Interventionists, Tactical Magicians, Liberators of Flora & Fauna, and Rebels without a Cause,

We at the Urban Wilderness Action Center are interested in how you define Urban Wilderness.

The Urban Wilderness Action Center (UWAC) is a guerilla gardening project initiated by Eyebeam alum Jon Cohrs, in collaboration with the Eyebeam Student Residents, and artist Kai-Oi Jay Yung. The actual "Action Center" is a virtual platform for developing and sharing urban wilderness interventions, and instigating a dialogue about wilderness in our cities. Our website will host descriptions, instructions, and examples of projects that promote urban agriculture and engender urban wilderness.

On March 20, 2010, as part of the international Electrosmog festival, we will take specific projects, with the help of the people from Berlin, Liverpool and NYC, and embed them into our urban environment.

We are writing to you today to invite you to participate in this project - either by simply contributing to our website, or more meaningfully, by joining us to design and lead workshops on March 20th.

If you are interested in participating, please visit our website at

As always, by sharing this invitation with your friends, lists, and on your websites - you are helping us immeasurably.

Thank-you and looking forward!
The UWAC team

UWAC has been concieved of as part of ElectroSmog, a new, three-day, international  festival that will introduce and explore of concept of "Sustainable  Immobility": a critique of current systems of hyper mobility of people  and products in travel and transport, and their ecological unsustainability.
