Llarena does interaction design with devices, installations, video, sound, wireless networks, the web, and programming.

His work has been shown at Ars Electronica, Eyebeam, Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas, ZKM, and ResFest, among others. Llarena’s background is in architecture, video, and interactive media.

In 2003 he received an Ars Electronica Golden Nica award for one of his wireless projects, Node Runner.

He lives in New York, where he works as an artist and VP of Interaction Design at Sotheby’s, and a Professor of Urban Interaction Design at the Parsons School for Design.

Eyebeam models a new approach to artist-led creation for the public good; we are a non-profit that provides significant professional support and money to exceptional artists for the realization of important ideas that wouldn’t exist otherwise. Nobody else is doing this.
