POW! Creative Caped Crusaders in Technology is a new after-school program for middle school students that will create an oportunity to explore fashion, electronics, coding, and design. Through the design thinking process and development of fictional stories, students will create a wearable technology project around characters that can become leaders in thier communities and thus learn how technology can make change. Teaching artist Toni Pizza, graduate of the NYU Game Center's Game Design MFA program, will guide youth in their exploration of physical computing, sewing, and storytelling while working with them to address real world problems.

The program takes place at S.T.A.R Academy at the Erasmus Campus in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Connect a Million Minds POW! is made possible by generous funding from Time Warner Cable's Connect a Million Minds, an initiative that has successfully connected over a million young people with hands on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.

This program was developed in partnership with Brooklyn College Community Partnership's initiative to implement digital medea and STEAM learning opportunities in middle schools.
